Surf therapy podcast
The Wave Project
An award-winning charity that enhances the lives of children and young people through community, surfing and the sea, The Wave Project was born in the swell here at Watergate Bay back in 2010 (90 minute listen)
Today, they run programmes in 32 locations across the UK and have used the power of surfing to transform hundreds of young lives.
In a brand new podcast – recorded on the beach where it all began – Wave Project founder Joe Taylor talks to Matt Barr from Looking Sideways about how his brilliant charity became the first in the world to offer ‘surfing on prescription’ to children with mental health needs, and the global growth of ‘surf therapy’ that followed.
Surf the blues away; listen to Matt and Joe’s conversation here.
Wave Project at Watergate Bay
Each summer we welcome the Wave Project to Watergate Bay for the Summer Surf Challenge. This is the opportunity for local people with disabilities the opportunity to try surfing free of charge, supported by their specially trained surf instructors and volunteers. It's a great event for everyone who takes part.
Keep an eye on our events calendar for Wave Project summer events taking place on Watergate Bay.
